Conditions Treated with Thoughtful, Whole-Person Psychiatry
Symptoms do not always fit neatly into one diagnosis. At Eden Total Care, I look carefully at patterns, history, medical factors, life context, and your treatment goals before recommending a plan.
You will work directly with Dr. Deneice Wickens, a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, for virtual psychiatric evaluation, medication management, brief therapy, and whole-person guidance. Care is available for clients age 17 and older across 11 states.
Conditions I Treat
Treatment is personalized and may include diagnostic clarification, medication management, brief therapy, coping strategies, lifestyle guidance, and coordination with other providers.
What It Can Look Like:
ADHD may affect focus, motivation, time management, organization, impulsivity, working memory, emotional regulation, and follow-through. It can be missed or mistaken for anxiety, depression, trauma, or mood concerns.
My Approach:
I use careful clinical evaluation and life context to clarify symptoms. Virtual ADHD care may include non-stimulant medication options, executive-function strategies, lifestyle support, and coordination with your therapist.
What It Can Look Like:
Anxiety may involve constant worry, overthinking, panic attacks, restlessness, irritability, physical tension, avoidance, racing thoughts, or difficulty feeling safe.
My Approach:
Treatment may include medication management, CBT-based tools, mindfulness, grounding, nervous-system regulation, brief therapy, and practical strategies for daily life.
What It Can Look Like:
Depression may feel like sadness, emptiness, irritability, exhaustion, hopelessness, low motivation, emotional numbness, isolation, or losing interest in your life.
My Approach:
We evaluate biological, psychological, medical, hormonal, lifestyle, and environmental factors before creating a personalized plan that may include medication, brief therapy, behavioral strategies, and care coordination.
What It Can Look Like:
Mood disorders may involve depression, irritability, impulsivity, agitation, decreased need for sleep, elevated energy, racing thoughts, or major changes in functioning.
My Approach:
I focus on diagnostic clarity, mood stability, medication monitoring, sleep, emotional regulation, relapse prevention, and a plan for recognizing changes early.
What It Can Look Like:
Trauma may affect sleep, memory, relationships, concentration, mood, trust, and the nervous system. Symptoms may include nightmares, triggers, avoidance, hypervigilance, detachment, or feeling unsafe.
My Approach:
Care is trauma-informed, collaborative, and paced with respect. Treatment may include medication management, grounding, brief therapy, emotional-regulation strategies, and coordination with a trauma therapist.
What It Can Look Like:
Some clients experience intense emotions, unstable relationships, fear of abandonment, impulsivity, identity concerns, chronic emptiness, distrust, avoidance, or longstanding interpersonal patterns.
My Approach:
Care focuses on accurate diagnosis, emotional regulation, boundaries, self-awareness, medication when clinically appropriate, brief skills-based support, and ongoing therapy with an appropriate clinician.
What It Can Look Like:
Hormonal and reproductive transitions may affect mood, anxiety, sleep, irritability, energy, concentration, relationships, and daily functioning.
My Approach:
Treatment is individualized and may include medication management, brief therapy, lifestyle guidance, symptom tracking, and coordination with your obstetric, gynecologic, primary-care, or therapy team.
What It Can Look Like:
You may struggle to fall asleep, remain asleep, wake too early, feel rested, or maintain a consistent sleep pattern.
My Approach:
We examine the connection between sleep, mood, anxiety, routines, medical factors, substances, and medications before creating a plan that may include behavioral and medication options.
What It Can Look Like:
Autistic and neurodivergent clients may experience sensory differences, masking, burnout, executive-function challenges, emotional intensity, communication differences, or chronic overwhelm.
My Approach:
Care is neurodivergent-affirming and adapted to your communication style, sensory needs, strengths, routines, processing needs, and personal goals.
